4 month old still waking every 1 to 3 hours...?

I know bf babies wake more often but come on! It's been 4 months of waking for feedings every 2 hours or so. Once he slept for 6 hours. Once. So I know he is capable of sleeping longer. Is it going to be like this as long as he's fed? I don't expect him to sleep all night but I would be happy with even 4 hours at a time. I've tried giving him a pacifier, sometimes he takes it but it still requires me waking up every 1 to 3 hours. Any advice?
