Heartbreaking situation with very close guy friend...should I just break the friendship?

We've been great friends for 3 years & kept in touch even though he moved to another country. He always flirted, told me I'm hot, intelligent etc. Two years ago we met up & even kissed but I had to return home. Then he reuinited with his ex girl & they've been together since..he told me he wants to marry her, except split a few weeks ago & he came to see me & stayed a week. I made sure nothing happened as I felt he was rebounding & to be honest, could feel the tension & the attachment. This morning, a bombshell! He called & told me, he's moving to be with his girl, they made it up and he is delighted. He said so I suppose I'll see you when you visit here (his country) or otherwise I'll come see you. I told him, 'no, I don't keep close friendships with married guys!'. He said 'you know men, they want other ladies (joking)'. After the call, I burst out crying. I realise I'm in love with him. I've since been in his city & we met for a couple of hours, met a couple of his friends (guys) too, went great, just kind of friendly but I can't stop thinking about him. He wrote and said he was really glad he could see me again & the meeting was too short & don't dare not to keep in touch. Should I tell him? Should I write and break the contact with him?
